"This is your only and last chance to change the regime," read a banner carried by protestors who descended on Manama's Pearl Roundabout, shortly after the funeral of one of two Shia demonstrators killed in clashes with police.
Security forces kept at a distance from the central roundabout, opting to block access points for cars, an AFP correspondent said.
The demonstration was called on Facebook by cyber-activists calling themselves "The youth of Bahrain - February 14th."
Three young men with a banner heralding the "fall of the regime" climbed a sculpture in the middle of the roundabout that is topped with a pearl -- a tribute to the old tradition of pearl diving in the archipelago state.
