Iraqi army arrests 11, seizes IEDs in Mosul
An Iraqi army force captured 11 wanted men and seized an arms and explosives cache in eastern Mosul city on Sunday, a military source said.
“A force from the 2nd Division stationed in Mosul arrested 11 wanted persons in eastern Mosul in accordance with Article 4 of the law on terrorism,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The force also seized a cache containing five improvised explosive devices (IEDs), sticky charges and hand-grenades,” he added, not giving further details.
Mosul, the capital city of the multi-ethnic unrest-stricken province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.
7 wanted persons captured in Babel
Seven wanted persons were arrested in an airdrop mission by a military force north and west of al-Hilla city on Sunday, according to a local police spokesman.
“Forces from the Quick Response Brigade’s 3rd Contingent conducted an airdrop mission in Djerf al-Sakhr district, (65 km) northwest of Hilla, arresting four wanted persons,” the spokesman told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“Another airdrop operation in al-Iskandariya district, (50 km) north of Hilla, resulted in the capture of three other wanted men,” he added.
The forces carried out their missions within the framework of a security plan to track down members of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq (ISI), he said, not giving more information.
Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad.
