A MUSLIM scholar condemned Islamic terrorism and violence when he spoke at a peace conference at ExCeL, Custom House.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - A MUSLIM scholar condemned Islamic terrorism and violence when he spoke at a peace conference at ExCeL, Custom House.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri spoke during The Global Peace and Unity (GPU) event on Sunday.

The scholar said: “Islam has no link to terrorism and any terrorist is a disbeliever.”

In an impassioned speech, Dr Qadri said that there was “no verse which advocates killing, brutality and terrorism” adding that any Muslim who used the Koran as a basis for acts of violence was “misguided”.

Dr Qadri is a long-time campaigner against Muslim extremism.

His organisation launched an anti-terrorism fatwa in March this year.

The scholar has been issued with a death threats by Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

GPU is the biggest multi-faith peace gathering in Europe, attracting tens of thousands of visitors every year.
