Up to 200,000 contestants including scholars, students, and university staff will take part in the Quran Contest held by Islamic Azad University

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Up to 200,000 contestants including scholars, students, and university staff will take part in the Quran Contest held by Islamic Azad University.

Deputy director of the Quran and Etrat office of Islamic Azad University, Abdolmajid Talibtash, announced this and said, “ We have fulfilled a couple of projects at the national level. The most important one was an active involvement in the 18th Tehran International Quran Exhibition in which Islamic Azad University managed to obtain among the other organizations the highest achievements in different sections including quarterly, book, university project, research project, and article sections”.

He mentioned a number of activities accomplished by different branches of Islamic Azad University during the holy month of Ramadan and continued, “Apart from Islamic Azad University, there is no organization to hold such an integrated Quran contest bringing as many as 200000 contestants together at the same time”.

“The contest is due to be held in three stages namely elementary, regional, and national. The written exam is scheduled to take place on November 20. The oral exam will be held during a week from November 9 to 15. The regional contest is set to be held in February and the final stage will be in May 2011” he explained.

The written exam consists of a wide range of subjects such as Quran interpretation, Nahj-ul-Balaqa meanings and concepts, the 14 Infallibles’ (AS) life, Quran translation into English, the noble life of the holy Prophet (PBUH), and so on.

Registration for the Quran contest has started and will continue until November 6.

It is worth noting that Islamic Azad University has also arranged to hold the 15th Religious Art and Literature Festival at Najafabad division in November.
