The Iranian House of Cartoon has invited international artists to take part in an online exhibition that condemns the US desecration of the holy Qur'an.

Ahlul bayt News Agency ; Cartoonists from all around the world are invited to send their works on the themes of Devil against Holy Books, Devil against Human Nature and Terry Jones.

Prior to the ninth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, an extremist Florida pastor, Terry Jones, announced plans to burn the holy Qur'an.

Under international pressure and global condemnation, he cancelled his plan, while some anti-Islam extremists burned pages of the holy book, and others tore its pages.

US officials, including President Barack Obama, had earlier warned against the move; however, they failed to take action to prevent the desecration or bring those behind the move to justice.

The insulting actions have triggered angry protests across the world, particularly in Muslim states.

More than 30 works have been sent from Iran, Turkey, Brazil, Ukraine and several more countries since the Irancartoon website announced the event on September 13,” Tehran Times quoted director of the Iranian House of Cartoon, Masoud Shojaei-Tabatabai, as saying.

No special awards have been considered for the event but all participating works will be published in book form, he said.
