Ahlul Bayt News Agency, The most complete edition of ‘Nahj-ul-Balagha’ (peak of eloquence), a book of quotations by Imam Ali (AS), the first Shiite imam, was unveiled at Iran’s Documents and National Library Organization in a ceremony on Sunday.
Ali Akbar Ash’ari, the organization’s head, told Iran News Agency the manuscript, pertaining to the fifth century AH, was unveiled on Saturday marking the ‘Laylat Al-Qadr’--the nights of the 19th, 21st, and 23rd of the ongoing Muslim Ramadan month.
An exhibition featuring copies of precious Qur’anic manuscripts also opened concurrent with the event.
A hand-written Qur’an attributed to Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Shiite imam, is on display at the exhibition. The book belongs to the second century AH.
The ancient manuscript is among the most precious works on show at the exhibition considering calligraphy and illumination.
Ash’ari said the exhibition will run through September 8, and will be later held in other Iranian provinces as well.
The official put the number of National Library manuscripts at 36,000 and said the organization has made every effort to enrich the library’s treasure-throve.
The exhibition is being held concurrently with an exhibition of Qur’anic manuscripts at Reza Abbasi Museum in Tehran.
