Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), Attending the 27th edition of International Quran Contest in Tehran, Anwar bin Hassin told that a good reciter must be well-informed about the Quranic rules of Tajweed (correct pronunciation), Waqf (correct pausing) and Ibtida (correct reading of words beginning with silent letters).
“Having a good voice and considering the tone of the Quranic verses will also help make a more beautiful recitation and attract the listeners to the holy Quran,” he added.
“Good reciters must have daily rehearsals to improve their recitation so that they can attract people to the holy Quran and help them learn its deep concepts,” he stressed.
Referring to his own Quranic background, he said: “I started learning Quran recitation when I was 7 and have been practicing my skills ever since.”
This was the first time he participated in an international Quran contest, he further said; however, he has been participating in the Quranic contests held in Malaysia at different levels and been successful in many of them so far.
Referring to the Quranic activities in his country, he said, “Quranic contests are annually held in Malaysia at local, state and national levels,” adding that he came second in the 53rd edition of Quran Recitation Contests lately held in Malaysia.
