A total of 2,520 Sunni clerics and seminary students in Hormuzgan Province, southern Iran, have issued a statement pledging allegiance to the new Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei.
They issued the statement on Wednesday, three days after Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei was chosen by Iran’s Assembly of Experts as new Leader of the Islamic Revolution to succeed his late father Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The signatories described his selection as a “wise and decisive choice” by the Assembly of Experts for the future of the Islamic Republic. They expressed confidence that the appointment reflects the selection of the most qualified individual to guide the Islamic community.
The Sunni scholars reaffirmed their loyalty and commitment to the new leader, emphasizing unity in safeguarding Iran’s independence, and defending religious and national values.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was martyred on February 28 in an airstrike on his office in Tehran in the early hours of the ongoing US-Israeli war of aggression on Iran.
