Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed his condolences on the martyrdom of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
In an X message on Sunday, Erdogan offered his sadness over the assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei in the US-Israeli attack.
He asked God’s mercy for Ayatollah Khamenei, offered his condolences to the brotherly people of Iran, and conveyed his sympathies on behalf of his country and nation.
Together with the people of Iran, Turkiye will resolutely continue its efforts to ensure that all its friends and brothers in the region regain the peace and stability they deserve, to end the conflict in the region, and to return to diplomacy, he added.
Ayatollah Khamenei was martyred following an attack by the Israeli regime and the United States on Saturday morning, February 28, 2026. Following the attack, the Cabinet has declared 40 days of public mourning and seven days of holidays following the martyrdom of the Leader of the Revolution.
