Tens of thousands pray at Al‑Aqsa despite Israeli restrictions during holy Ramadan

Despite severe Israeli restrictions, nearly 50,000 worshippers attended Isha and Taraweeh prayers at Al‑Aqsa on the sixth night of Ramadan. Israel has intensified expulsions, arrests, and entry limitations, which experts say aim to change the Mosque’s historical status.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Jerusalem Governorate reported that nearly 50,000 worshippers performed the Isha and Taraweeh prayers on Sunday night at Al‑Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, marking the sixth night of Ramadan, despite the heavy restrictions imposed by Israeli forces.

On Saturday, an estimated 60,000 Palestinians also attended Taraweeh prayers at the Mosque, showing continued determination to reach the holy site despite ongoing Israeli limitations on access.

In recent weeks, Israeli authorities have escalated policies of expulsion and what they call “preventive arrests,” while tightening entry restrictions to Al‑Aqsa and curbing traditional Ramadan activities in its surroundings.

Specialists in Jerusalem affairs say these measures are part of a broader plan aimed at reshaping the reality at Al‑Aqsa Mosque and undermining its historical and legal status quo.

Earlier, Al‑Aqsa preacher Sheikh Ikrima Sabri warned that expulsion orders issued against dozens of Jerusalemite youths reflect a deliberate attempt to alter the existing situation at the Mosque, noting an escalation in Israeli actions targeting residents of Jerusalem.
