AhlulBayt News Agency: Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, head of Iran’s Islamic seminaries, has addressed a letter to over 80 prominent religious leaders—both Islamic and non-Islamic—in the wake of Israel’s recent military actions against Iran.
In the letter, Ayatollah Arafi strongly condemned Israel’s violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, accusing the regime of launching a full-scale war backed by some Western powers, particularly the United States, against the Iranian nation. He noted that the aggression had claimed the lives of innocent civilians, scientists, nuclear experts, and military commanders, while also damaging critical infrastructure and civilian areas.
Arafi highlighted Israel’s long-standing record of occupation and violence across the region, saying its decades-long assaults on Palestinian lands and other Muslim countries had been marked by bloodshed and brutality. Quoting verse 82 of Surah Al-Ma’idah, he cited historical hostility toward the Muslim community, invoking it in his broader call for awareness and action.
He called on religious leaders worldwide to denounce the ongoing aggression against Iran and play a greater role in fostering unity among Muslims in the face of what he referred to as a “common Zionist enemy.”
The letter follows Israel’s attacks on June 13, which struck residential areas, military sites, and peaceful nuclear facilities inside Iran. The raids led to the assassination of senior Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists, along with civilian casualties.
In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise III, a wave of retaliatory missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli military infrastructure.
