AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli forces have launched a major military operation in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, described as the largest incursion in years.
Reports indicate the raid began shortly after midnight, with numerous military vehicles entering the city from several directions.
Unusually, Israeli troops brought fuel tanks with them, suggesting preparations for a prolonged operation.
During the raid, Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians, including a paramedic, used tear gas, made arrests, and stormed homes.
Footage from local media showed a Palestinian man approaching soldiers with raised hands before a confrontation and gunfire erupted.
Israeli media claimed two Palestinians were killed while allegedly trying to seize a soldier’s weapon.
However, a Palestinian journalist reported the men were shot while returning home, and ambulances were blocked from reaching them.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported at least 65 injuries during the raid.
PRCS official Fawaz al-Bitar said some were shot in the thigh, while others were beaten by soldiers.
Tear gas was also fired into homes in densely populated neighborhoods, causing multiple cases of inhalation injuries.
Bitar stated that emergency teams were repeatedly obstructed and that one paramedic was shot while on duty.
Munadil Hanani, from the city’s Factional Coordination Committee, warned the raid could continue for an extended period.
Israeli soldiers imposed a curfew via loudspeakers, ordering residents to stay indoors until Wednesday morning.
This is the first curfew in Nablus since the Second Intifada in 2000.
Soldiers reportedly pointed weapons at civilians, arrested dozens of young men, and confiscated personal belongings during home raids.
The city came to a standstill, with markets empty and schools, universities, and public offices shut down indefinitely.
Residents fear the raid could escalate into a prolonged assault like those in Jenin and Tulkarm, which have led to mass displacement.
Other attacks in the West Bank have included demolitions, assaults on shepherds, and livestock seizures.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has intensified its West Bank operations, with around 1,000 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces and settlers.
