Iran's first VP congratulates Lebanese PM on 10th anniversary of victory in 33-Day War

First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri, in a message to Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam on Sunday, congratulated the 10th anniversary victory of Lebanon in the 33-day conflict to thwart the Israeli aggression on Lebanon.

Jahangiri, in the meantime, congratulated the Lebanese nation on anniversary of the victory.

Noting that this victory was achieved in the light of unity and solidarity of the Lebanese people, Jahangiri said that the victory in the 33-day conflict with Israel was a golden page in the history of the Lebanese nation and other freedom-seeking nations of the world.

He wished success and prosperity for the Lebanese nation and Prime Minister Salam in particular.

The 33-day conflict aimed to thwart the Israeli aggression on Lebanon in 2006. The conflict spread to northern Palestine and the entire Lebanon.

UN Security Council Resolution No. 1701 on August 14, 2006, declared ceasefire, calling on Israel to end military aggression on Lebanon and pull back troops and tanks to behind the international borders, marking a remarkable victory for the Lebanese armed forces including Hezbollah.
