AhlulBayt News Agency - According to an Iranian source, (pro-)government troops have retaken al-Qarassi in southern Aleppo one day after losing the village to extremist rebels Thursday.
The village was reportedly recaptured late last evening by a joint fighting force of local National Defence Forces (Syrian paramilitary), military advisors of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (Iranian paramilitary) and Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary).
However, the Syrian Government and its allies are still on the defensive in southern Aleppo after the loss of Khan Touman and a handful of nearby villages.
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) maintains only a minor presence in southern Aleppo as the SAA’s Military High Command prioritizes much of its man power on other more strategic frontlines, most notably in western Raqqa, northern Aleppo, Latakia, and Damascus.
