AhlulBayt News Agency - The National Anti-Siege and Reconstruction Movement Commission has called on the UN to assume its responsibilities towards the Gaza Strip and move to end the blockade imposed on it.
In a press release, the commission said that the recent remarks made by a senior UN official, who refuted the use of construction materials entering Gaza for military purposes, confirmed that Israel's recent ban on the entry of cement was part of its measures aimed at tightening the siege on Gaza and punishing its population.
The commission warned that the continuing blockade on Gaza would cause the fragile situation in Gaza to explode in light of the horrific levels of poverty and unemployment.
Robert Piper, the UN coordinator for humanitarian affairs in the occupied territories, said in recent remarks that his organization did not find a single piece of evidence proving the use of any construction material for military purposes.
