AhlulBayt News Agency - On Sunday, Syrian National Defence Forces of Salamiyah (NDF) and ground troops of the Air Force Intelligence ambushed a convoy of ISIS militants in the eastern countryside of Hama province.

In turn, 8 ISIS fighters were killed while approximately 15 were injured but reportedly managed to retreat during the ambush. Furthermore, 3 Toyota ISIS vehicles were destroyed at the site.

The government attack was conducted at this specific location:

Currently, the town of Aqarib al-Safi has been transformed into a defensive bastion of the Syrian Armed Forces while ISIS fighters have entrenched themselves at the villages of Qalib al-Tawr and Abu Hanaya in eastern Hama.

In other news, Jabhat al-Nusra fighters at Qantara village south of Salamiyah were said to have let the water from the nearby river reenter government-held regions around Salamiyah for reasons unknown.

Qantara village was captured by al-Qaeda linked rebels a few months back during a large-scale offensive launched from the Homs pocket towards the strategic Hama-Salamiyah road.

It is yet to be recaptured, largely due to the NDF of Salamiyah having to fend off various Islamist rebel groups in the south and persistent ISIS aggression not far east.
