the Iraqi security forces killed 27 ISIS suicide bombers on April 1, the Iraqi defence ministry reported.
The ministry released a statement on Friday announcing the killing of 27 ISIS suicide bombers by the Iraqi army, brigade 15 in Nineveh province, north of the country.
"One of the suicide bombers was a woman wearing a vest packed with explosives" the statement reads.
The suicide bombers were attempting to reach the Iraqi army base near Kharbardan village in the south of Mosul but their plot was foiled before reaching their target, the statement added.
The Iraqi army has recently launched an operation to liberate southern Mosul territories before attacking IS stronghold in northern Iraq. For this purpose, thousands of troops have been deployed to the Makhmour frontline where ISIS is regularly attempting to cause harm.
