Specialists at the Astan Quds Razavi Library, Museum, and Document
Center have restored 18,877 rare Quranic and manuscript pages over the
past nine months, according to Seyyed Ali Tabatabai, head of cultural
artifact restoration at the organization.
Tabatabai announced the achievement during an interview, emphasizing the preservation of cultural heritage through meticulous restoration efforts.
“During this period, 174 Quranic and manuscript volumes, as well as 57 lithographic and lead-printed books from the Razavi collection, were restored by our team of experts,” he stated.
The scope of restoration work also included 1,532 pages of historical documents, 67 old photographs, and nine valuable parchment sheets. Additionally, specialists separated and restored 150 pages housed inside old book covers, which included historically significant documents from various eras.
The restored data-x-items are part of the vast treasures housed at Imam Reza (AS) shrine, one of the most significant religious and cultural institutions in the Islamic world, situated in Mashhad, Iran.
The organization’s restoration efforts are part of a broader initiative to protect and maintain the integrity of rare historical and religious artifacts in its collection, which includes one of the most extensive repositories of Islamic manuscripts globally.
