AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The 23rd of Zul-Qa'dah is commemorated as Imam Reza (AS) Pilgrimage Day, or according to some narrations, Samen ul-Hojaj (AS) martyrdom anniversary.

Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine’s Deputy Office for Islamic Ideology Dissemination has held special events to mark the day starting from Sunday. Meanwhile, special measures have been taken to observe corona-related health protocols and social distancing.

The venues for the Pilgrimage Day programs are the courtyard of the Holy Prophet (pbuh), Imam Khomeini (RA) Grand Portico, Gowharshad Grand Mosque, Jomhouri Eslami and Imam Hassan Mojtaba (AS) courtyards.

The special programs commencing at 4:00 am in the courtyard of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) include Ziarat Jame’ Kabir (Pilgrimage Prayer), noon and afternoon prayers and Ziarat Aminollah (Pilgrimage Prayer). The evening programs in the Jomhouri Eslami courtyard start at 19:40 and include a sermon by Hoj. Eslamifar.

To mark the day, the holy shrine has been clad in black and six thousand simple breakfast packages have been distributed among the pilgrims standing for morning prayers in Gowharshad Grand Mosque and Imam Khomeini portico, said Behnam, Astan Quds Razavi’s Deputy for Pilgrims’ Services.

He noted that a group of first-time pilgrims from the underprivileged areas have been arranged to visit the holy shrine within plan called “O’ The Helper of the Weak” in the morning of Pilgrimage Day under health protocols.

Stressing that the number of servants should be increased to decently welcome the pilgrims on this day, Behnam noted, “The number of wheelchair servants has been doubled, and some consumer goods and detergent have also been replenished. This is to meet the pilgrims’ demands so that they can observe the health protocols and social distancing as best as possible”.
