AhlulBayt News Agency: A ceremony was held in Iraq’s capital of Baghdad on Saturday to honor a large number of memorizers of the Holy Quran.
A total of 1,000 men and women were praised at the ceremony for their Quranic achievement.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani attended the event, which was organized by the Sunni Waqf Department.
In his speech, Al Sudani congratulated the memorizers for completing the learning of the Holy Book by heart.
He said Quran reciters and memorizers have a special place and that the government would spare no efforts to help them move further on the path of Quran.
He highlighted the position of Iraq in terms of Quranic activities and sciences and said his country is steadfast on the path of serving the Holy Book.
Al Sudani also said that over the past 20 years, the Iraqi people have managed to thwart attempts at fomenting discord thanks to their adherence to the teachings of the Quran.
He emphasized the importance of the Quran as a source of unity and dignity in facing challenges and called for adhering to it in the current conditions in the region.
