Ahlulbayt News Agency: A boycott of Pepsi in Egypt over its support for Israel has led to a significant drop in sales.
The company has had to stop selling some of its previously best-selling products.
Among them is an ice tea that used to be very popular in Egypt, especially in the summer, according to Arabi21 website.
This year, however, the item has been removed from the sales lists of online beverage sales platforms.
The reason is campaigns launched by pro-Palestine activists who have been calling for a boycott of Israeli products and those of companies that support the Israeli regime.
Facing the boycott, Pepsi has been announcing temporary discounts but it has been of no use.
Since the start of the Zionist regime’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, the boycott campaigns have spread in Muslim countries like Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan.
Other companies hit by these campaigns include McDonalds, KFC, Coca Cola and Starbucks.
The Israeli regime has waged a deadly military offensive on Gaza since on Oct. 7, 2023.
More than 40,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have since been killed in the enclave, and nearly 93,000 others injured amid mass destruction and shortages of necessities.
The Israeli war has pushed almost all of Gaza’s population into internal displacement amid a crippling blockade of most food, clean water and medicine, while 60%of the enclave's infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
