AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Grand Mufti of Yemen Sheikh Shamsuddin Sharafuddin has said that the anti-arrogance stances of Imam Khomeini were fruitful and boosted the pride and dignity of the Islamic World.
Sharafuddin made the remarks in a ceremony held in Sanaa, Yemen, on Monday to commemorate the 34th demise anniversary of the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.
He said in the ceremony that Imam Khomeini played a key role in the solidarity of the Islamic ummah and to confront the enemies who sought to weaken and destroy Islam.
The Mufti added that Imam Khomeini was able to awaken the conscience of people under the worst conditions and managed to unite the Muslim nations.
Referring to the attempts by the US and the Zionists to eliminate the anti-arrogance stances of Imam Khomeini, Sharafuddin called for a re-consideration of Imam Khomeini's thoughts and instructions on how to confront the American and Zionist arrogance.
Imam Khomeini, who steered a popular uprising in Iran that culminated in the fall of the former regime of the Shah, passed away on June 3, 1989, at the age of 89.
He has become known as one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century who inspired many other uprisings all across the world.
