Hezbollah official: Hijab gives identity to Muslim women

An official with Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement said Hijab gives Muslim women identity and power.

AhlulBayt News Agency: An official with Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement said Hijab gives Muslim women identity and power.

Khadija Saloum, who is in charge of the central committee for supervising Hezbollah’s women societies, known as Sayyidat an-Nisa al-Alameen, said Hijab is a factor and strengthens Muslim women and elevates their character, Iqna reported.

She highlighted the role of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and spread of Islam’s message in the world in the enhancement of Hijab and said that today, Muslim women in Lebanon believe that Hijab gives them a profound identity.

She further noted that Hezbollah annually holds a program to honor women who wear Chador (a long, cape-like garment that covers the hair and body) as the best Hijab.

The event, that has been organized since 12 years ago all over Lebanon is titled the “Zeynabi Chador Ceremony”, she noted.

Elsewhere in her remarks, Saloum referred to the position of women and men in Islam, saying they have different rights and responsibilities based on their capabilities and capacities.

If we look carefully, we see these differences create a balance between the two genders in society, she noted.

Asked about the achievements of the Islamic Revolution and founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini (RA) the anniversary of whose demise will be marked in a few days, the Lebanese woman the most outstanding accomplishment of the Islamic Revolution was boosting the status of Islam in the world.

Establishing the resistance front against the Israeli occupation and the world arrogance are also among those achievements, she stated.

She said the Islamic Revolution, which led to the establishment of the Islamic Republic and making Iran an independent country where Islam rules and there is no dependence on outsiders, was a unique event in the world.

The dignity enjoyed by the Iranian people is thanks Islam and the Islamic Republic, she added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Saloum was asked about the Sayyidat an-Nisa al-Alameen women societies. She said they have been founded with the primary aim of promoting Islamic teachings among women and enhancing their relationship with the Quran and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

Deepening the Jihadi spirit, fostering Islamic values, and promoting spiritual teachings among women are among other objectives of the societies, she went on to say.
