AhlulBayt News Agency: Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi made the remarks on Monday after Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said met with Ayatollah Khamenei in Tehran earlier in the day.
“The meeting…reflects the shared eagerness to strengthen the historically-rooted relations between the two countries, mutual trust, and joint action for anything that enhances the pillars of regional coexistence, security, coordination, and peace,” Albusaidi said in a message in Arabic that he posted on Twitter.
Ayatollah Khamenei told his guest that Iran and Oman will both benefit from closer bilateral cooperation, which he said was especially important as the two countries share the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway linking the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman.
Sultan Haitham, who had been on a two-day visit to Iran upon the invitation of President Ebrahim Raisi, departed Tehran on Monday after meeting Ayatollah Khamenei.
