AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The representative of the president of Shiraz University stated, “The indirect role of Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi in the revival of Qom seminary is also significant; the role that ultimately caused the Islamic Revolution of Iran.”
The opening ceremony of the Conference to Commemorate Grand Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi was held on Saturday, December 10, 2022.
The ceremony was held in the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) in Karbala with the large presence of ulama, clerics, national and military figures, chiefs and sheikhs of tribes, researchers and professors from the universities of Iraq, Iran and a number of other countries of the world.
The sixth speaker of the opening ceremony of the Conference to Commemorate Grand Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi was a guest from Islamic Republic of Iran.
Expressing his gratitude to the organizers of the Conference to Commemorate Grand Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi, Dr. Hadi Sadeghi, who participated in the Conference as the representative of the Dr. Mohammad Moazeni, President of Shiraz University, stated, “We hope that such conferences will preserve our Islamic and Shiite identity.”
“Islam is a social and political religion,” he said, “This religion seeks to create a distinct lifestyle that will lead to the perfection of man and the creation of human civilization Such lifestyle not only shows that Islam is not mere rituals, but also makes it possible for man to manifest a lower level of divine attributes.”
“Islamic civilization is universal. In this regard, national and ethnic interests fade in the light of attention to divine orders. Therefore, we as a United Ummah must insist on the unity of all Muslims in order to elevate the position of the Islamic world, and we must insist on this unity beyond ethnic and national interests. Cultural unity is one of the types of unity and cohesion in the Islamic world and paves the way for establishing the desired civilization of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h),” expressed Dr. Sadeghi the representative of the president of Shiraz University.
After this introduction, referring to the connection between cultural unity and the Conference to Commemorate Grand Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi, he said, “This approach highlights the important role of religious leadership, grand Marjaiat and the rightful ulama of Islam.”
“One of the influential figures in the creation of modern Islamic civilization in leadership and Marjaiat is Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi. In addition to the role of Mirza II in the fight against British colonialism and the establishment of the independent state of Iraq, the indirect role of Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi in the revival of Qom seminary is also significant; the role that ultimately caused the Islamic Revolution of Iran. The struggle of the awakened Shiite clerics against colonialism and (global) arrogance is significant and this era is one of the most sensitive periods in the history of the Ummah,” dr. Sadeghi added.
Further in his speech, giving explanations about the participation of Shiraz University in holding the conference, he said, “According to what was said, Shiraz University welcomed the offer to participate in holding this conference, and entered to hold it magnificently.”
On behalf of Dr. Moazeni, the president of Shiraz University, he announced the holding of the “Conference Commemorating Grand Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi, Iran section”, and said, “The second part of the Conference will be held in Shiraz in 2023.”
In the end, Dr. Sadeghi expressed his hope that with the assiduous participation of the academic community of Iran and Iraq, as well as the seminaries of the two countries, a magnificent conference will be held at Shiraz University.
* The Series of International Conferences for the Revival of the Heritage of the Ulama of Karbala
It should be mentioned that the Commemoration Conference for Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi is the third of the Series of International Conferences for the Revival of the Heritage of the Ulama of Karbala which dedicated to commemorating and revival the works of the ulama of Karbala.
The organizer of these series of conferences is the Karbala Center for Studies and Research, the Scientific Section of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.). Previously, Karbala Center held the first and second conferences to commemorate Allameh Vahid Behbahani, and great faqih and hadith narrator Ibn Fahd Hilli.
The title of the 3rd conference of these Series of International Conferences, was “Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi - Thoughts and Leadership”, which was held by Research Center of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) in cooperation with the Shiraz University as partner organizer.
The opening ceremony of this conference was held in the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) on Saturday, December 10, 2022, and then, after Maghrib and Isha prayers, researchers from different countries presented their articles in the evening scientific session which was held in Sayed al-Osia Complex.
On Sunday morning, December 11, 2022, the scientific session continued their activities, and the closing ceremony was held on Sunday evening.
