AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): An electronic copy of the latest translation of the Holy Quran in Japanese has been prepared for experts and those interested to study and give their feedback before publication of the work.
University of Tokyo scholar Moamen Abdalla has rendered the Quran into Japanese under the supervision of a special committee from the university.
The committee has asked the Japanese who are interested in the field of Quranic and Islamic teachings to study the translation and offer their views on the rendering.
It said the views would help enhance the translation before it is printed.
The first Japanese translation of the Quran was published in 1920, and it was followed by two more renderings in 1937 and 1950.
Omar Mita was the first Japanese Muslim who translated the Quran into the language in 1972.
And Tatsuichi (Ebrahim) Savada is the first Shia Muslim who has rendered the Holy Book into Japanese.
