Iran warns Guterres on anti-Iran attempt of the US

Iran's permanent ambassador to the United Nations warned UN Secretary-General about the consequences of the realization of the US attempt to remove Iran from the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Iran's permanent ambassador to the United Nations warned UN Secretary-General about the consequences of the realization of the US attempt to remove Iran from the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

In a letter to the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Amir-Saeed Iravani stated that if the US manages to remove Iran from the UN Commission on the Status of Women, this would question the practice of equality among member states in this international organization.

He noted that this illegal request represents another attempt by the US to abuse the UN system for its political purposes and underlined that the request is based on false anti-Iran claims.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always warned against the abuse of UN-affiliated institutions to advance political goals, the Iranian envoy pointed out, adding that such moves would harm the credibility of the UN system.

The Iranian official called on the UN chief to support the principles of the United Nations Charter and prevent unconstructive and destructive efforts led by the United States against Iran.

Earlier on Tuesday, the US State Department spokesman expressed Washington's support for the recent West-backed riots in Iran and claimed that the US seeks to remove Iran from the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

Ned Price's remarks come as the US and its European allies, for many years, have been the major violators of human rights through imposing oppressive sanctions on independent countries such as Iran.
