(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Iran remains to insist that the Islamic countries have a strong foundation for human rights, Iran's Majlis (Parliament) Speaker said on Tuesday.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 13th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), Ali Larijani said that one of the issues on the current conference's agenda is the issue of Islamic human rights.
So far there have been good discussions on the issue, Larijani said.
He also said the issue of women and family are among subjects expected to be discussed by the participants. 'There is a special committee on women and family.'
It is fortunate to see that women across the Islamic nations are increasingly participating in parliaments, the Iranian Majlis speaker added.
Larijani also urged Muslim nations and the PUIC members to try to enhance economic relations among themselves.
Iran is expected to propose mechanisms to help promote economic engagement among Islamic countries, he said.
