(AhlulBayt News Agency) - An annual Quran competition for Ukraine’s Muslim community was held in the capital Kiev on the weekend.
The World Association of Quran Memorization organized the contest on Saturday and Sunday, November 5-6, al-Wahda website reported.
60 Quran memorizers took part in the competition, hosted by the Islamic Center of Kiev.
Most of them were Ukrainian Muslims and some were Muslims of other nationalities residing in the Eastern Euoprean country.
Islam is the fourth-largest religion in Ukraine, representing some one percent of the population. The religion has a long history in Ukraine dating back to the establishment of the Crimean Khanate in the 15th century.
