(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The Islamist rebels that agreed to reconcile with the Syrian government and remain in the Al-Wa'er District of Homs launched a new attack on Sunday, targeting civilians in nearby neighborhoods.

The rebels attack killed two young men and wounded another bystander as they were walking in a nearby neighborhood in Homs City.

This attack by the US-backed rebels in Al-Wa'er resulted in a powerful response from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on Sunday afternoon.

The Syrian Arab Army reportedly retaliated with heavy mortar and artillery shelling, achieving direct hits against the enemy forces in Al-Wa'er.

A local source reported on Sunday evening that civilians in the Al-Wa'er District expressed their anger towards the militants for breaking the ceasefire and disrupting the peace deal that has lasted for three months.
