Saudi Shia Figure: "Negotiation is only way to end conflicts in Arab world"

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Sheikh Hasan Al-Saffar, a prominent Shia leader said in Friday sermon on January 25, “there is no substitute for political compromise to save homelands”.He said that “internal conflicts are the worst kinds of wars, explaining that civil wars destroy communities”. He added that wars and civil strife was the cause of backwardness of some Arab countries”.Al-saffar explained that most Arab countries have suffered for long period from backwardness, slow development, corruption and poor infrastructure, and civil wars came and destroyed what people have achieved over decades, referring to the destruction which was caused by armed conflict in Syria, Sudan and Yemen.Sheikh al-Saffar, mentioned that dialogue, negotiation and compromises between various parties is the only way to end conflicts and civil wars in the Arab world. He added that political competition through peaceful means between people is the best way to end conflicts instead of destroying countries and killing people because of the insistence of each party on their attitudes.He hoped that negotiations between Syrian government and opposition in Geneva 2 will result in a peaceful solution and end the conflict in that country soon.He also showed optimism about signing the National Reconciliation Charter in Yemen hoping that it will put an end to the conflicts raging there./149
