Iranian art show begins work in Gaza

An exhibition of various forms of art created by the Iranian artists has kicked off in the Gaza Strip in Palestine.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Many Palestinian artists and people attended the opening gala that was held on November 18, 2013.

Organized by Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the recent exhibition is Iran’s second experience in holding art gallery in Palestine.

The event presents some 50 various murals and paintings by Iranian artists and also offers Iran’s cinema through screening some selected movies.

As Iranian artists and officials were not able to attend the event due to the Israeli blockade, the festival’s director Dr. Habibollah Sadeqi communicated with the show's visitors and guests via internet video call.

While the exhibition is part of The Third International Arts Festival of Resistance, the show is to promote the culture of resistance as well as highlighting the Islamic awakening.

The show is also to commemorate the victory of Palestinian resistance movements particularly during the eight-day war occurred in 2012.

The eight-day war, which is also known among Gazans as Sejjil, was carried out from November 14 to 21.
The Gaza War known as the Gaza Massacre was also Israel's 22 day deadly strike on the densely populated Gaza which started on December 27, 2008.

As a result over 1400 Palestinians were murdered in what many consider war crimes against humanity. Gaza is still today under attacks from Israel and blockaded, a situation that has caused a decline in the standard of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and unrelenting poverty.

Palestinian refugees are still barred from their homeland and many are forced from their land to make way for Israeli settlements, and the Israeli administration have even stated that they do not want Palestinians to exceed 30% of the population of al-Quds (Jerusalem).
