Thousands of Shia families are living as slum dwellers in Kashmir capital of Srinagar. The slum is located on wetland near famous lake of Kashmir "Dal Lake" where they are settled from many decades.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - These Shia slum dwellers live under poverty and in harsh conditions which makes their life miserable. Most of them are labrourers by proffesion and some are dependend on lake to fulfill their daily requirements.

The women are busy mostly in making the Kashmiri local carpet in order to support the family. These slum dwellers are cut of from the main city as they have to travel through lake.

The Kashmir goverment has taken many steps to rehabilate these slum dwellers but only out of 11,000 families, 60 families has been rehabiliated so far to new colony at bemina district of budgam Kashmir. The project is seeing not working because of delay of work and lack of funds.
