The Saudi authorities released a Shiite citizen following two years of detention

Al Yaseen was arrested by the security forces on suspicion for participation in anti-government protests held in Qatif city before two years.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - On 22 July 2013 , the Saudi authorities released the Shiite citizen, Aqeel Al Yaseen, from Qatif city. Al Yaseen was arrested by the security forces on suspicion for participation in anti-government protests held in Qatif city before two years. He was injured when the security forces attacked the demonstration and opened fire on the protestors. Al Yaseen was arrested and taken to the military hospital in al-Dahran city where he spent 40 days in it, then he moved to al-Dahran Prison. Many Shiite protestors continue to be detained in Saudi prisons without charge or trial or held beyond the expiry of their sentences. /129
