Prominent Turkish Shiite Figure Censure Erdogan's Remarks on "if being an Alavi means to love Imam Ali, then I am Alavi"

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Prominent Turkish Shiite figure, Selahattin Ozgunduz evaluated Prime Minister, Rajab Tayip Erdogan’s words saying “if being an Alavi means to love Imam Ali (as), then I am Alavi” and said how these words has affected the agenda.

Addressing thousands of prayers in the Friday prayer of 19th of July in Halkali Zeynebiye mosque, top Turkish Shia Imam talked about the agenda in the second part of his sermon. Evaluating Erdogan’s speech about being an Alavi he said:

“Prime Minister’s words saying that “if Being Alavi means loving Ali, then I am truly Alavi” have affected the country. But these words haven’t affected the hearts. You are friend with those who say we will feed the dogs with Alavis, that is why your words don’t affect the hearts. If you are friend with those who desecrate the graves and eat the human meat, your words won’t affect the hearts.”

Of course our Prime Minister is not a friend of them. But if you are supporting them financially, if you are opening camps for their leaders, Tariq Al Hashemi, and then what can I call you other than calling you their friends? Shall I call you their commander? Shall I call you their lord? Choose a name and let us call you by that. You are not their enemy. Then, what is the relation between you and Tariq Al Hashemi?

That is why even if your words are on the agenda getting some response, they won’t affect the hearts. So, when the words may affect the hearts? The time when Alavis are considered the first class citizens, the time when you become as democratic and fair as Bashar Al Assad who you call oppressor and you when you elect at least 30 percent or 10 Alavi Minister in your government and when you give them the opportunity to be mayors and commanders in the country, then we will believe your words. Then there will be no need for you to tell and we will say that our Prime Minister is Alavi as we are.

We have told you what were the plans for this region since 2006, haven’t we? By creating new government their main plan was to divide Turkey. Their main purpose is to serve Israel and create a region for that in which there is a Muslim Israel in the middle, A Jewish Israel in the Southwest and a Christian Israel in the Northeast (Armenia). And at the end they want to have a Turkey which has been apart from the world if Islam. You would have said it won’t happen. It wouldn’t, but now you see that it is happening. We ask God to get it back.
We ask God to help those who try to keep the unity of the Islamic world, and to damn those who are trying to divide this nation apart. God, please keep Tariq Hashemi and the terrorist gangs which have been created by him away from our country and the world as soon as possible.
