(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with officials in charge of organizing Haj pilgrimage.
The Supreme Leader said that all should exercise vigilance to prevent escalation of discord between the Shia and Sunni Muslims.
Hajj ritual makes up for worship, supplication and political and social presence in global developments, the Supreme Leader said.
"Before the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, the then Iranian pilgrims were focused on performing the rituals, but, the significant event covers important issues such as collective aspect, greatness and unity, the keys for humanity."
The Supreme Leader said that the hostile approach to divide the Shia and Sunni Muslims is not something new and has roots in the past, adding that the enemies have escalated their campaign to impose a divide on the Muslim Community for their own agenda.
"Current unrest and political differences in Syria is an example of their political agenda."
The Supreme Leader said that Iran has adopted a crystal clear approach concerning Syrian developments and the fact is that the global arrogance is aiming to destroy resistance in the region to create a safe haven for the Zionist usurpers.
"To resolve the Syrian crisis, shipment of arms to the country should be halted as it is a natural practice for any government to seriously stop shipment of illegal arms into the country."
The Supreme Leader said that if the Syrian opposition put down their arms, the ground will be prepared for the Syrian government to listen to their demands.
The Supreme leader also thanked the officials of Haj organization for rendering invaluable services to Iranian pilgrims during Haj season.
Prior to Supreme Leader's remarks, head of Haj Organization Hojjatoleslam Ahmad Mousavi and Suprem Leader's Representative for Haj Pilgrimage Qazi Asqar briefed the Supreme Leader on cultural and international aspects of performing Haj mission this year ended last week.
