(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The naval forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) are constantly monitoring the US-led naval wargames currently underway in the Persian Gulf, Commander of the IRGC Navy Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi announced.
"Americans' activities are under our (IRGC Navy) constant watch any moment," Fadavi said, adding that the US has only been joined by Britain, France, Japan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the wargames and the rest of the 20 countries which are said to be accompanying Washington forces in the drills are only attending the meetings and conferences related to the wargames.
To signal IRGC's constant monitoring of hostile moves in the region, the commander mentioned that "based on our latest assessments, 64 US vessels are present in the region, and the Americans claim that 20 of these vessels are participating in the drills."
He added that 6 British, one French, 2 Japanese and 2 Emirati ships are also present in the wargames.
The US minesweeping exercises began on September 16 and will last by September 27.
Earlier, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari stressed Iran's intelligence supremacy over US moves in the region, and noted that Iran is well informed of the details of the US naval moves in the region.
"We are well aware of the exact number and the position of the US surface vessels, aircrafts, submarines and minesweeping warships in the region," Sayyari underscored on Friday.
