(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - With regard to 16th NAM summit, a Pakistani political analyst said: "many years ago Iqbal Lahori noted that the destiny of the world changes in a time when Tehran acquires a position similar to that of Geneva in international setting. Today, that dream has come true.
In an interview, Sadjad Mir mentioned U.S. and Israel's efforts in introducing Tehran summit as "unsuccessful", and said: "America uses all types of weapons to create a unipolar world, yet presence of 120 countries including Ban Ki-Moon neutralized their efforts in isolating Iran.
"Since Iran has expressed its independency from superpowers and western countries after the Islamic Revolution, the hosting of NAM summit by Iran has enraged America and its allies", he added.
He pointed to the general ideology of the movement and Imam Khomeini's doctrine, "neither Eastern nor Western", and said: "today NAM insists on its main stances on the basis of this theme and the presence of NAM members would certainly affect the foreign policies of Iran."
Considering the presidency of Iran, he said: "since Iran has always been an active country in international setting and defended the rights of Palestinian people, we hope that Iran would be the messenger of peace for developing countries."
Comparing Tehran summit and OIC in Mecca, he remarked:"OIC conference made no ameliorative decisions for Muslims, while Tehran summit was held, despite the oppositions of dictator countries, to improve Muslims' demands and as Lahori said, Tehran acquired a position similar to Geneva in east.
