(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The United Arab Emirates said on Friday that it looks forward to seeing the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) contribute to the quest for peace with the rest of the international family.President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday received a phone call from His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, who led the UAE delegation to the NAM summit. Sheikh Saud briefed the President on the summit’s conclusions and decisions.At the summit, UAE expressed its readiness to participate in the work for a lasting peace that will end the political crisis and social unrest that prevails in the Middle East and other parts of the world.Addressing the summit, Sheikh Saud said that peace, security and stability will not be achieved in the region without abiding by the sublime principles the movement had proclaimed since its establishment; the principles of respect for national sovereignty, non-interference in the internal affairs, good neighbourliness and willingness to find just solutions to issues of occupation.Among its priorities was the resolve to find just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, the Israeli withdrawal from Palestinian and Arab territories occupied since 1976 including East Jerusalem, and the establishment of a Palestinian state on the borders of June 1967, Sheikh Saud noted.He stressed the UAE’s commitment and adherence to founding principles that form the basis of NAM.Sheikh Saud asserted that NAM countries have the elements of action and co-operation to solve many of the problems experienced by the region.In a press statement made shortly before leaving Tehran, Sheikh Saud said that if a sincere and constructive co-operation is developed among the member states, it would bring them great gains through stability, which will provide security and progress in various fields./129
