(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Addressing a large congregation of Iranian worshipers in Tehran on Friday, Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli said his forces have adopted proper measures since long ago to guarantee security of Iran's airspace and the Iranian capital during the summit.
"Since a long time ago, the Armed Forces' air defense unit has specified and deployed in its positions vigilantly and with full preparedness, constantly monitored (enemy moves) beyond borders and came under the control of an integrated air defense network in a multi-layer air defense," the commander stated.
Yesterday, Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said that security of the Non-Aligned Movement summit has been ensured at the highest level.
"Iran is the safest country and Tehran is the safest city, and the security of the summit is at the highest level," Najjar told reporters on the sidelines of the NAM summit in Tehran.
On Monday, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari announced on Monday that IRGC will be in charge of the security of the summit.
"Based on a decree communicated by the General Staff of Armed Forces, the responsibility of protecting the security of the NAM summit in Tehran has been entrusted to the IRGC," Major General Jafari said at the time.
"And we are fully ready to provide comprehensive security for this great world summit, making use of the abilities of the IRGC, Islamic Republic Army, Law Enforcement, Interior Ministry and Intelligence Ministry forces," he continued.
He said the IRGC has fully ready and skilled forces and also worked out detailed plans to protect the summit and there is thus no concern in this regard, adding that the IRGC enjoys full intelligence control and has thorough information about influential components of security with regard to the summit.
