Senior Iranian Cleric: NAM Summit, a turning point

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Chairman of Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Saturday that the upcoming Summit of Leaders of Non-Aligned Movement will be a turning point for the world body.Ayatollah Rafsanjani said outcome of the Summit can have drastic impact on promotion of NAM goals and objectives, strengthening relations among the member states.He said Iran is well-prepared to host the Summit, adding that as a fully independent country without affiliation to the global powers, Iran is the most qualified country to host the NAM Leaders.Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Rafsanjani deplored killer quake in northwestern East Azarbaijan province and said thank God good measures have thus far been taken to rush aid to the quake-stricken citizens. /129
