(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Lebanon's resistance movement Hezbollah has blasted the United States and its 'mercenaries' for the recent wave of deadly violence in Iraq.
Hezbollah issued a statement on Tuesday, slamming Washington for carrying out “terrorist crimes” in Iraq, Lebanese media reported.
In a reference to Monday's deadly blasts in Iraq, the Lebanese resistance movement said that “the US and its agents are behind it.”
“Those agents do not want the Iraqi people to rejoice by seeing the US occupation troops withdraw from Iraq,” the statement added.
“They work on planting deaths and [prompting] destruction in [Iraqi] cities.”
Hezbollah expressed “condolences to the families of the victims” and called on the Iraqis to “strengthen their national unity.”
On Monday, 13 bombings targeted several Iraqi cities in the worst wave of violence in the Middle Eastern country over the past months.
At least 76 people were killed and over 200 others were injured in a series of bomb attacks in different Iraqi cities.
Bombings and other forms of violence have become an almost daily occurrence in Iraq in recent months as the US government has made no secret of its strong desire to extend its military presence in the war-torn country beyond the December 2011 withdrawal date.
