(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “Part of the exhibition deals with the reinvention of traditional veil and mashrabiya, for instance, while others deal with present political implications in the Muslim world which attract worldwide multimedia attention,” said curator Ania Rodriguez.
The exhibition called “Mirage”, has been held at the Tomie Ohtake Institute in Sao Paulo since February and is expected to continue until April 3. It features 58 works by 19 artists from Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, and Turkey, a Press TV correspondent reports.
The art works presented constitute a wide range of forms including painting, photography, video making, calligraphy as well as metal work.
Works from Iranian photographer Shadi Ghadirian, Palestinian plastic artist Laila Shawa, and Turkish video artist Sener Ozmen are among those presenting art reflecting the current events taking place in North African and the Middle East.
The Cultural Centre of the Bank of Brazil held the exhibition “Islam: Art and Civilization” last year in Rio de Janeiro, with 300 pieces from the National Museums of Iran and Damascus.
