(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The National University of Modern Languages (NUML) was closed after receiving an advisory from the Crisis Management Cell of the Ministry of Interior to adopt this precautionary measure.
A large number of foreign students are also studying in NUML, the country’s main university of local and foreign languages.
The official did not say as to who gave threats to the university but suspected militants are thought to be behind the threats.
A university official said the university was receiving security threats for Friday so the university management decided to close it till Monday.
The hostel building had also been evacuated for the protection of the students while commandos and other police officials were deployed to ensure security of foreign nationals.
The end-term papers scheduled for Thursday evening were postponed while the entry tests for the Graduation Program, originally to be held on Friday, have also been cancelled.
Some eight thousand students, including foreign nationals, forces personnel and others, were likely to appear in the entry tests.
The three-day closure was announced as a safety measure for the students, the official said.
Last year in October two suicide bombers struck Islamic University in Islamabad, killing and injuring several students.
