Palestinian Muslims prepared on Monday to celebrate the Eid Al-Adha holiday

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Palestinian Muslims prepared on Monday to celebrate the Eid Al-Adha holiday.

Eid Al-Adha is traditionally marked by slaughtering sheep and other animals, commemorating Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God's will.

In the besieged Gaza Strip, animals were secretly passed through underground smuggling tunnels from Egypt.

In Mecca, Saudi Arabia, some 1.7 million Muslims from communities worldwide stood on Mount Arafat in what is considered a high point of the Hajj pilgrimage, which is performed during the holiday. The hill is the place where it is believed Adam was reunited with Eve after 200 years of separation following their expulsion from the garden of eden.
