The best Islamic plans to promote dialog were awarded in Berlin November 13 during a ceremony entitled “Award 2010 for Social Integration”.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Deutsche Welle reportred that the event was attended by German Federal Minister of the Interior, Thomas de Maiziere, and delegates from Islamic institutions.

“Recently, we have received negative feedback that criticizes the administration’s plans for failing to promote the integration of Muslim community into the German society, populated by an overwhelming majority of Christians, said the minister; however, I personally believe that such plans have achieved success to a certain degree.”

He further added that the idea of giving awards to the best Islamic plans concerning how to assimilate better German Muslim community into the society was not a reaction in response to the critics. “The plan had actually been approved during the meeting between German Organization of Islamic Conference and the authorities some time ago” he explained.

Four out of some 180 plans suggested were selected as the most effective ones to be applied for the promotion of dialog. Al-Helal International Sport Club managed to win the top award for its effort to strengthen the connection between German Muslim and non-Muslim citizens by holding friendly sport events. “Muslim voice” Internet Website and “Muslim Policemen Group” shared the second award. The third prize went to ”Female Muslims Association” for holding forums and meetings with the aim of integrating Muslim women more and more with the German community.
