(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle visits Gaza, urges Israel to end Gaza siege and allow lift export restrictions against the Gaza Strip.
Lifting Gaza siege is not only Germany’s demand but also is an international demand, he told Qudsna correspondent in Gaza.
Westerwelle made the remarks during his first visit to the coastal enclave after visiting a United Nations-run school and a sewage treatment facility in the al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza City.
‘What I saw here in Gaza prove that Gaza siege must be lifted very soon’ he added.
Israeli siege has caused a humanitarian disaster in the impoverished Gaza Strip, Westerwelle said.
"Germany has a clear vision. We support an end to this blockade. We stress the importance of the resumption of imports and exports," he told other reporters in Gaza.
Israel has imposed a blockade on the region since June 2007, preventing the entry of hundreds of items, including essential industrial materials.
