Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), East Azerbaijan, Iran -- Though there is a wide range of cases where Quranic medicine, as a scientific method, has been applied for treating purposes, it has not received due attention, a Quranic medicine researcher said.
Sa’eed Razavilar Marandi referred to great interest shown by the West in Islamic medicine and said, “Advanced medicine is indebted to eminent Muslim scholars and physicians whose attempts have been neglected to some extent.”
Noting that Islamic medicine is based on comprehensive principles, he said: “Though the need for prevention before cure is what modern medical sciences have highlighted only recently, it has been stressed in Islamic medicine from the advent of Islam.”
“In Islamic medicine prevention has been given priority over treatment of diseases and what is considered as one of the main prevention methods is not to eat more than sufficient. Islam has also introduced nature and mental peace as important factors needed for treating diseases and accelerating the healing process. It is a fact that modern medicine also stresses.”
He went on to say that Quran verses and hadiths are full of valuable instructions applied in Islamic medicine.
“As Islamic medicine has various advantages from different aspects, more efforts are needed so that Islamic medicine can reach its proper status,” he concluded.
