Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), Iraqi security forces have found bodies of fourteen civilians including a number of firefighters that were kidnapped by militants, an Iraqi police colonel says.
Nine firefighters, who were seized two years ago and had all been shot in the head or body, were found in a well in Shnana, 12 kilometers (seven miles) west of Samarra in Salaheddin province, a former al-Qaeda stronghold, the officer said.
The colonel who was speaking on condition of anonymity added that the corpses of five civilians were recovered in the desert region north of Baghdad.
All 14 bodies were found as a result of information obtained from militant detainees, he went on to add.
Imad al-Juburi, a doctor at Tikrit General Hospital, confirmed that 14 male bodies had been received, all of which were heavily decomposed, according to AFP.
