Russia, China, and France to Reject Anti-Iran Resolution at UN Security Council - New York Times

The New York Times, quoting a diplomatic source, reported a rift within the United Nations Security Council over a draft resolution regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

ABNA24 - The New York Times, quoting a diplomatic source, reported a rift within the United Nations Security Council over a draft resolution regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The New York Times cited a diplomatic source and a senior UN official reporting that Russia, China, and France are set to reject a UN Security Council resolution that would authorize the use of force to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the diplomatic source, disagreements over the resolution have also emerged among the ten non-permanent members of the Council.

On February 28, the United States and the Zionist regime launched attacks against Iranian territory, resulting in civilian casualties and significant damage. Iran responded by targeting the occupied territories as well as U.S. military interests and installations across the Middle East.

The escalation of tensions surrounding Iran has led to the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz for vessels affiliated with Iran's enemies.

Iranian officials have emphasized that, within the framework of Iran's legitimate right to self-defense, they have denied passage through the Strait only to vessels belonging to or affiliated with hostile parties involved in the war. They further noted that the waterway remains open for use by friendly nations and those not participating in the ongoing conflict. However, this targeted blockade has significantly impacted regional oil production and export levels, causing global energy prices to skyrocket.
